James von Moltke joined Deutsche Bank in 2017, and currently acts as President and Member of the Management Board with responsibility for Asset Management. Until recently, he was Chief Financial Officer. In this position, he played a central role in shaping and implementing the bank’s transformation strategy, launched in 2019, and in overseeing the significant improvement in the bank’s financial performance, capital distributions and also control environment through 2025. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, James held senior roles in several leading global financial institutions including Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan. His career spanned 16 years initially as an investment banker focused on Financial Institutions, and subsequently in executive management. He was an instrumental part of the post-crisis restructuring of Citi in the positions of Group Treasurer, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis and Head of Corporate M&A. Throughout his career, James has been a strong advocate for international cooperation, understanding and transatlantic partnership. He has represented Deutsche Bank on the boards of Atlantik Brücke e.V., the Deutsches Aktieninstitut, the House of Finance at the Goethe Universität in Frankfurt and the Schmalenbachgesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaftslehre.
